How to Set Up IPTV on a MAG Box

A dedicated IPTV set-top box that connects to your TV by HDMI.

A MAG box is a small set-top box made for IPTV. It connects to your TV by HDMI and to your router by Ethernet or Wi-Fi, and it starts straight into an IPTV portal instead of a general app menu. Many people like it because it behaves like a traditional cable box, with a simple remote and a quick start.

Unlike a phone or smart TV, a MAG box does not use an app store. You enter a portal address in the box's settings, and the box connects to your subscription using the identity of the box itself. This guide shows you where to find that information and how to enter it.

What you need

  • A MAG box that is already connected to your TV and your internet.
  • The MAG address shown in the box settings, which we need to link your subscription to your box.
  • The portal address that we send you after activation.
  • The box remote control.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Connect the box. Plug the box into your TV with an HDMI cable, connect power and use an Ethernet cable if you can. Turn on the TV and select the right HDMI input.
  2. Find your MAG address. Open the settings menu on the box and look for Device info or System info. Note the MAC address shown there. It usually starts with the same few characters on every box.
  3. Send us the MAC address. Message us on WhatsApp with your MAC address and the plan you chose. We use it to activate your subscription on your box.
  4. Open the portal settings. Go back to the box's main settings and choose System settings, then Servers or Portals.
  5. Enter the portal address. Type the portal address we sent you into the portal field. Check it carefully before you save.
  6. Save and restart the box. Press OK to save the settings, then exit and restart the box. It reloads and connects to your portal.
  7. Wait for your channel list. After the restart, the portal loads your channels, movies and TV guide. The first load takes a minute.

Keeping a MAG box running smoothly

A MAG box is simple by design, which is why it is so stable. A few habits keep it that way. Restart it from the menu once in a while, give it space for airflow and avoid stacking other devices on top of it.

If you move house or change your internet provider, nothing about the subscription changes. Plug the box into the new network and it reconnects to your portal. If you buy a new box, the free device change on the 12-month plan lets us move your subscription to the new MAC address.

Keep a note of your MAC address and portal address in a safe place. If you ever reset the box to factory settings, you will need to enter the portal address again.

Tips for smooth viewing

  • Use an Ethernet cable if possible. MAG boxes are designed for stable wired streaming.
  • Do not share your MAC address with anyone except us, since it links your subscription to the box.
  • Keep the box in a ventilated spot so that it does not overheat.
  • If you change your box later, tell us. The free device change on the 12-month plan covers this.

MAG box setup questions

Where do I find the MAC address?

It is shown in the settings menu under Device info or System info, and often on a label under the box.

Can I use the portal on more than one box?

Each box needs its own activation. Ask us about multiple screens, which cost more than a single screen, so you can use more than one device.

Is a MAG box better than a Fire TV Stick?

It is a matter of taste. A MAG box feels like a cable box and starts quickly, while a Fire TV Stick is cheaper and more flexible. Both work well with View IPTV.
